I never made an official list of New Year’s resolutions, but one goal for the year was to brush up on my math skills. Now I’m not doing much math these days that Excel isn’t really doing for me (and I’m still many years away from helping the kids with math homework!), but I’ve been interested in a refresher since before going back to school.
Last week the New York Times helped nudge me toward my goal by launching a new weekly series on math by Steven Strogatz, a professor of applied mathematics at Cornell. The column is designed to run “from the basics of math to the baffling.” Strogatz writes:
I’ll be writing about the elements of mathematics, from pre-school to grad school, for anyone out there who’d like to have a second chance at the subject
I’m looking forward to these posts over the next few months and I hope I can keep up!
Lots of Contact and Calendar upgrading going on here.
Loaded all my contacts into personal Salesforce.com account. Probably total overkill, but trying to manage/share contacts and mailing lists with my wife.
Added LinkedInOutlook toolbar to add all my LinkedIn contacts to Outlook. Also allows for easier grabbing of contact info from signatures and sending of invitations.
Updated my Blackberry Desktop software, which seems to have fixed the Roxio installer bug that plagued my install this spring.
Added Google sync to my wife’s iPhone and computer so that her Contacts/Calendars are synced. Plus shared my G Cal with her to get it onto her phone.
PS: Testing a new Zemanta install on the old blog here.
Are the old VCs standing around like they was Poindexter? Bits writes that some think younger VCs have an advantage…doesn’t experience count for anything?
